bought an infinity scarf a few years ago that never fit me quite right and I could never find the right top to wear it with. I found it deep in my closet a couple of weeks ago just in time to find the perfect use for this cute scarf... to keep Lottie warm in this below zero weather we've been having. of course it fits her perfectly!

plant photo: 006
staghorn fern. I rescued this one from Menards about 4 or 5 years ago... somehow they let their plants die slowly on their sales floor but on that day, this staghorn was the most promising of the bunch. so sad that I only could bring one home. platycerium is a genus of about 18 fern species in the polypod
family, polypodiaceae. ferns in this genus are widely known as staghorn
or elkhorn ferns due to their uniquely shaped fronds.

bed
Thanks to Mark for building my dream dog bed. It turned out perfect!! We actually
had everything to make this bed... cedar, vintage mod legs, and two beds that
fit perfectly inside. I am partial to the bed that fits directly inside however the bed with the snuggle-up sides is probably preferred by the dogs. Lottie loves her custom bed. Now we need to design one for Minnow...perhaps with a built-in step since she's got the luxating patellas in her back legs.

happy holidays

Happy Holidays! It has been quite a while since my last post. Luckily the celebration of Festivus begins with the Airing of Grievances so here I go... blogging here has become so annoying with my photos refusing to download and the layout appearing all whacked out that I no longer want to do this blog. WTF blogger.com? I don't have 5 hours to spend on each post!! And still be unhappy with what ends up posted!! GRRRR. Today blogger.com just refuses to download my picture of our tree this year. We got an Oriental Spruce - alive so it can be planted in the front yard after the Holidays. It's lovely, it really is, trust me. But since you cannot see it, please enjoy my photos of Lottie and Minnow. I wish I could prove that I DO take photos of more than just dogs. I will be using Pinterest for my photos and ideas so find me there if you like. Perhaps I'll start posting again on Tumblr. Who knows.
To protect our Chrismas tree from Minnow's destructive ways, Mark built a nice wooden box around the pot it's planted in. Minnow loves to get into the dirt in a potted plant! I think she still managed to destroy about 8 ornaments but the tree itself survived - hooray!
Our annual holiday hot sauce was finally bottled on Christmas Eve and look out! This year Mark created two different sauces and both of them are HOT! The red one is brutal.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Here's to a creative and fun 2014 filled with puppies and home improvement projects and design ideas and love.

brew dogs

My two favorite things... dogs and beer! Lagunitas brews some mighty fine beer and they have the best bottle cap ever. One of these days I'll get a Lagunitas hoodie for Minnow. Why not.

smile!

look who's smiling on Desire to Inspire today...Minnow!
Desire to Inspire has been a part of my morning routine for a few years now. It's one of the design blogs I must look at as I drink my coffee and seek doses of inspiration for the day. Way back in 2010, Lottie was a pet on furniture too! The story of how Desire to Inspire came to be is as awesome as the interiors they feature.
A Canadian and an Australian Trying to Inspire the World One Room at a Time
Kim and Jo have never met but there is a bond between them that is so strong that it can cross half the world and back again. You see Kim and Jo are interior design junkies. They go weak at the knees when they find that perfect room and they just have to share. It all started towards the end of 2006. They met on Flickr, shared images they had bookmarked and well that was that. Desire to Inspire was born.
Go spend some time in the land of Desire to Inspire now! I guarantee you will want to clean your house, rearrange your furniture, or possibly take a photo of your pet today. Go!

Classic Hound martingales
Minnow and Lottie needed some reflective martingale collars and I found the perfect ones at Classic Hound. They arrived today neatly packaged and sealed with cute Classic Hound stickers. These martingales are quality made and absolutely the best looking reflective styles on the market. Classic Hound also offer some super stylish designs that I MUST have and I will definitely be buying more collars from them - especially since they sent a card for $5 off my next order! THANKS!!
How cool is this...
You now have the option to recycle your Classic Hound collar or leash after it's been used to it's fullest!
Classic Hound offers a "recycle" program to help reduce the amount of materials going into our landfills.
I give Classic Hound a big round of applause. I'm one happy customer!

naughty and nice
Lottie was the best puppy. A perfect angel. She was never destructive. My furniture and belongings were always safe. And then there's Minnow.
My chair with Lottie...
My chair with Minnow...
Minnow also bites the leaves off my plants, chews up my magazines, will jump up on the coffee table and leap from there to the couch, can be found standing on the dining room table, and knocks the water bowl over daily. Puppies. I do love them... even when they're naughty. And it's a good thing she is so cute!
