bottle freaker

As I suffer from Raynauds, this Bottle Freaker is one of the best gifts I ever got...thanks P! It's really hard for me to hold a cold beverage for any length of time so this cute, knitted bottle sock is the perfect solution.

The coaster is from Hilda Grahnat

the other side of Lottie

When Lottie is not curled up on a vintage chair posing for the camera like a dog model, she looks more like this. Lottie spent the day squirrel hunting through the dog door, playing frisbee with Mark, and running around in the woods down by the creek. Such a tough life. It was a beautiful day to be outdoors...cold but at least sunny with a clear blue sky.

five for friday: Spring!

all photos taken today around the yard.

pages and pages

I've got several file folders full of pages and clippings from magazines. Sometimes the magazine just had one or two things worth saving so this was my way to toss the magazine and keep the good stuff. I've been doing this for 15 years! I'd like to get all these clippings organized. This week I pulled out 7 or 8 clippings and tried searching the internet for digital images that I could keep here at HousePet. And I came up with one, a home designed by architects, Haga & Grov. And the photo here wasn't nearly as amazing as the one published in that Wallpaper from 2001...

Haga & Grov also had these great photos of other homes...

There was a living room featured in Lucky Magazine in 2001 as part of a feature called the Lucky Home Guide.

Ten years later, this living room still looks good to me. Lots of classic pieces... although I still hate the purple on the walls but that's just paint. And maybe the homeowner is wondering why they ever went purple in there too. Who knows. This person with this living room cofounded a design firm and MCM-Scandinavian Design-Vintage seemed very important to she and her then boyfirend. I google searched on the homeowner's name thinking they might have a blog or be part of an interior online zine. I searched on her Design Firm's name. Nada. Did she get married and change her name? Did she give up on this style and now she's devoted to Shabby Chic-Moroccan? I thought it would be so cool to see what her living room would look like now, ten years later. And then I could blog it here. But no. I found nothing on the internet.

The big nothing happened again and again. I searched on more architects names and the amazing projects I had clippings of didn't exist at all on the internet. It was all so very odd to me and such a bummer. I was trying to organize but was being shut down at every door. I'm going to try some more this weekend. Seriously, I have hundreds to search on and I'm bound to find some of them.

city visit

I stayed overnight with my friends in Chicago last week. I hadn't been to their place in a while. They've got a huge apartment with a unique layout, lots of built-ins, and some vintage Scandinavian furnishings that I'm incredibly jealous of. It's a fantastic space. Oh and they have a new, super cute puppy that I had to meet! They have a magical window in their dining room where all plants grow like crazy... lots of great succulents. The art and objects on the fireplace mantle were looking pretty good to me. More photos of their amazing space will be on another website soon and I think it will be called a "house tour", hint, hint.
