Larkspur

Last week a friend and I stopped in at Larkspur, a lovely floral boutique on Damen Ave. The selection of fresh cut flowers is perfect if you want to put an arrangement together yourself or let the one of their talented designers create a unique combination for you. Phone orders are also accepted Tuesday through Saturday for delivery to Chicago and most suburbs. In addition to beautiful and unusual cut flowers, Larkspur has a nice selection of tillandsias and house plants and so many cute vintage planters...especially if you're in the market for a little Shawnee/Haeger style fawn planter to brighten someone's day - right now they have several fawns to choose from. They also carry a variety of small gift items including candles, jewelry, and aprons. I really regret not buying a very cool wooden pendant necklace. I'd like to stop in again soon and hopefully it will still be there... I know I'll get some flowers too!

ikea tradig as a planter

When I bought that ikea tradig wire bowl back in January, I knew I was going to have some creative fun with it. I mean it can't JUST be a fruit bowl!

Once I saw it, I simply had to have a dwarf papyrus plant. And it was going to work perfectly with my planter idea for the tradig bowl! When I could not find a coconut shell liner small enough to fit, I cut a couple of inches off the smallest size I could get at the garden center. I started out with just the papyrus and then spruced it up with some feathery accent grass and a few hens & chicks. Those grasses grew a bit big and wild so I replaced them with more succulents. I love playing with plants!!

Jump to the future here and see how the ol' Tradig is doing.

where's your tail?

Saw this squirrel today with a missing tail. It didn't seem to mind too much and went about its normal bird seed stealing routine. Poor little guy!!

oh Lottie

Lottie and I drove out to the country...well not that far really but more like the country than where we live. My friend has quite a bit of land and a pond and plenty of woods for Lottie to play in. Her dreamworld! The bottom pic is blurry but she had such a cute fox-like grin the whole time she played in the woods. So cute!

Bend!

What! Bend Seating in MY YARD!! Remember a little while back when I blogged about how much I loved these chairs? Well someone else took note and gave me quite a gift...I'm talking a really over the top, generous gift! I'm not sure I can ever thank these kind folks enough for this incredible surprise but I'm very thankful and know that this set will be loved for many years.
